Quality Assurance: Actions to Test During Beta

• Rename note (⌘R) should work from anywhere as long as a note is selected/displayed/edited

Creating notes

• Create a new note from the Omnibar by hitting Enter
• Create a note by clicking on a link to something that does not exist
• Create a note using the QuickEntry helper

Wait for a few seconds (the file system or Finder performs an update); the note should still be selected and editable.

Omnibar

• Tab should jump to note editor when note is selected
• Enter should create a new note if the exact title is not used
• Enter should start editing a note that has the exact same title
• Up and down arrows should change the selection in the results list
• Deletion (⌘-Backspace) should delete the currently selected note, no matter if the Omnibar contents match or not

In general, the Omnibar should behave as if you really were using the search results list with your keyboard. It should feel natural to click into the Omnibar and then navigate from there.

Search

• Selecting a note displays the note title in the Omnibar.
• Selecting a note, clearing the search, then selecting the same note displays the note title again.
• Clearing (ESC or “x” button) removes the text from the Omnibar. And displays all notes (in the current filter).
• Clicking a #hashtag displays the tag name in the Omnibar.
• Clicking a #hashtag resets the current search and shows all notes.
• Clicking a [[Wiki Link]] displays the link text in the Omnibar.
• Clicking a [[Wiki Link]] displays a note with, if found, with the link text as title.
• Clicking a [[Wiki Link]] resets the search if the target note is not part of the current search results.

Data Integrity

In short, you should not lose data. Ever.

• The deletion shortcut (⌘+Backspace) is the same as “delete to beginning of line” in text editors; when you edit text, the shortcut should not delete the currently edited note.
• When you make changes, changes should be saved. Always, including when you:
  • click (or ⌘L) inside the Omnibar
  • change the active filter via mouse
  • change the active filter via shortcut
  • invoke a shortcut listed in the main menu
  • switch applications
  • close The Archive
  • change folder contents from Finder or another text editor
• Changes should be undoable. All of them.
  • Undoing deleting a note, especially.
  • Undoing creating a note by accident should bring you back to where you were. (If that does not happen, what situation did you have been in?)
  • Typing should be undoable, as should any other changes to the note.
  • Search-and-Replace should be undoable. (Known issue! Be aware)
